Another great time at the Alma Music and Arts Festival. The weather went from questionable in the morning to beautiful by days end. With the help of my daughter, Elle, for the first few hours and my wife Allison the remainder of the afternoon it was both fun and profitable. See you there next year!
Posting at the midway point of the Maritime Heritage Festival in Port Washington, WI. What a beautiful venue! Right on Lake Michigan, we are situated in Coal Dock Park which is surrounded on three sides by the big lake. Partly cloudy skies and mid-80F temps make the water look even more inviting. Unfortunately the attendance has been poor at best. Allison and I are making the best of it and we're enjoying a working weekend away together in a town that is an interesting and historic tourist destination.
UPDATE: The Maritime Heritage Festival ended without fanfare. For us as vendors it was a real disappointment. The attendance just never picked up even though the two bands that played Sunday were really good. Such is life as an events vendor. Fortunately it is the only weekend so far this summer we did not make money...
The kettle is loaded up and ready to travel to Port Washington, WI for the annual Maritime Heritage Festival. My wife, Allison, and I will be first timers at this event which celebrates Port Washington's history. Situated on Wisconsin's "East Coast" we will make the coast-to-coast trip from the Mississippi River bluff region we live in to the shores of Lake Michigan.
"Experience a celebration of all things that have made our community a historic lakefront destination. The Maritime Heritage Festival is an award-winning event featuring the tall ship, Peacemaker, a Coast Guard Rescue Boat and working Army Corps of Engineers Tugs and Barges, restored and handcrafted wooden boats, an Artisan's Marketplace, educational and historic activities and displays, live music and entertainment, guided/interactive harbor tours, children's activities including "Coastie" the Coast Guard robot, food/beverage court, water safety/awareness exhibits, a Ferris Wheel located for the first time at Coal Dock Park and and the 4th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta. This year we are proud to have the Land Regatta Run/Walk making its debut. A great deal more than a traditional maritime festival, we invite you to experience our rich heritage through an exciting blend of sights, sounds, tastes and activities. Chart your course for Port Washington's Maritime Heritage Festival today!"
What a weekend in Kasson, MN! Great weather once again made for a memorable event. Saturday was an amazing day. Working solo I broke my single day sales record by over $200! The kettle kept popping batch after batch of superb kettle corn. I had the good fortune of seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and spending some time with my youngest sister who lives in Kasson. Another event I look forward to returning to next year when Kasson celebrated it's 150th anniversary.
Absolutely fantastic weekend of blues music at Blues on the Chippewa in Durand. Sales were great, the people were generous and the vibe was super! Count me in for next year and then some. My wife, Allison, and I worked together on Sunday. She always brings her flair for design, people skills and a willingness to WORK to each and every event she attends. Thanks to her we were able to enjoy the amazing voice of Kelley Hunt from Kansas City, MO. She and her band really got the crowd moving!
