Blues on the Chippewa coming up this weekend. The kettle will be on-location offering kettle corn to attendees on Saturday Aug 2nd and Sunday Aug 3rd. Looking forward to a weekend of great local, regional and national blues musicians in lil' ol' Durand, WI. And the free will donation admission provides supplemental funding for the Pepin County Food Pantry & Brent Titus Music for Children Program!
I took the kettle on a solo run to make kettle corn in the Driftless Area of SW Wisconsin for the 4th of July holiday. What a beautiful day! With the persistent rain wed have had this Spring and Summer it was great to have a couple days of dry and mild weather which culminated on the 4th. I underestimated the citizenry of Ontario, Pop. 500+, and their passion for kettle corn. From Noon until 6 pm it was busy busy! I actually ran out of popcorn before the fireworks which was a real bummer. That and the detour I had to take on the way there, which added about an extra hour to the 2.5 hour trip, where the only downsides to what was a fun day.
The kettle has been on the road to events in Eau Claire and Alma, WI as well as Elk River, MN in the past few weeks. Despite some stormy weather the kettle has been pooping and selling kettle corn to new customers that we've enjoyed meeting. My daughter, Elle, and I make a good team which this this Dada proud. The event in Eau Claire was a youth soccer tournament we were invited to attend. This was the kettles first time at an athletic event. With the great response we had from the families attending the tournament we are excited to return to Eau Claire again next year and hopefully make kettle corn at other soccer tournaments.
