...At The Anderson center in red wing, MN
Visit the Center’s 20 year-round artists who will open their studios for tours and demonstrations in glassblowing, pottery, painting, silk dyeing, and printmaking. Scott King, publisher of Red Dragonfly Press, will host poetry readings outside on the north lawn, and Mike Arturi, drummer for the rock-and-roll Hall of Fame band, Lovin’ Spoonful, will showcase solo and group performances by students of his award-winning Universal Music Center.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can enjoy live music on the lower lawn; climb the landmark 1917 water tower for stunning vistas of the Cannon River valley; visit the many display tents and tour studios to watch artists at work; stroll through the Center’s galleries and its permanent art collection, one of the finest collections in rural Minnesota with works by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and other 20th century masters; watch live entertainment in the beautifully restored Anderson Center barn; or lounge the summer afternoon away over a glass of wine or beer in the shade of the spacious Anderson Center grounds.
Golf cart and vintage WWII Jeep tours of the Center’s 8-acre Sculpture Garden will also be available. One of the largest open-air sculpture parks in the state, it boasts works by many of Minnesota’s finest sculptors.
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase in the café, where the roof deck will be open.
Admission is $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for students, free to Anderson Center members.
